The Ungrateful Friend

The Ungrateful Friend

In a small, quiet village, there lived a young man named Arman. He was known for his friendliness, helpfulness, and disrespect for anyone. One of his closest friends since childhood was Riko, a young man who often faced difficulties, both in his work and in his daily life.

Since his youth, Arman had always been a helper to Riko. When Riko ran out of pocket money at school, Arman was the one to share it. When Riko fell ill, Arman was the one who faithfully accompanied him to the hospital. Even as an adult, when Riko lost his job, Arman found him a new one at his uncle's repair shop. For Arman, helping Riko was natural, as he considered Riko like a brother.

However, unexpectedly, Arman's kindness was repaid with unpleasant things. Riko, instead of being grateful, often complained and belittled Arman's actions. For example, when Arman found him a job at the repair shop, Riko said, "Working in a repair shop is dirty. Are you deliberately giving me a low-level job?" Arman just kept quiet, trying to calm his heart, because his intentions were sincere, not to belittle.

One day, Arman even lent Riko some money, claiming it was for urgent family needs. However, instead of repaying him, Riko avoided him. He even went so far as to spread rumors that Arman was exploiting their friendship to seek praise. Arman was shocked to hear the gossip. He had never even considered seeking a good name by helping others.

Time passed, and Arman began to realize that every time he helped Riko, instead of feeling grateful, he was increasingly demanding. Riko had become accustomed to asking, never giving. The climax came when Arman refused to lend him his motorcycle because he was using it. Riko was furious and said harshly, "You said you were a friend, but you're so stingy! I've always known you were just pretending to be nice." Those words pierced Arman's heart.

That night, Arman reflected. He asked himself if he had been misplaced in his friendship. However, his mother wisely advised him, "Son, helping others is good, but don't let your kindness be misused. Not everyone is grateful. Sometimes, we have to learn to say 'enough'."

Those words opened Arman's eyes. He finally decided to distance himself from Riko. It wasn't that he hated him, but he chose to no longer be trapped in a cycle that kept harming him. Strangely, after Arman stopped helping him, Riko began to feel lost. Many of the people Riko had abandoned because of his personality were no longer willing to help.

Several months later, Riko came to see Arman. His face was weary, full of regret. He finally realized the true meaning of a true friend. However, Arman only smiled faintly. He said, "I'm not angry, Riko. I've just learned that friendship isn't about who gives or receives the most, but about mutual respect."

The story was a big lesson for both of them. Arman is still a person who likes to help, but now he is more careful in placing his trust. Meanwhile, Riko slowly learns the meaning of gratitude and how to keep a sincere friend.

Would you like me to make a version that is more emotional and full of dialogue, so that it feels more lively like a drama?
